Carlos
Carlos (aka Los) was introduced to climbing while on a family trip to Colorado in 2013. He instantly fell in love with it and knew that he wanted to make climbing a part of his life. He has been with UpTown Climbing since inception and has gone from welcoming people at the front desk to teaching several of UpTown’s classes. He has taught climbing and belaying skills to so many of the new climbers that it seems he knows all of our members. While always willing to offer a belay to a new visitor or help a newer climber with techniques or some beta, he is primarily known for having some of the best calves in the gym. Best for Intermediate & below.
JOSH
Josh has been climbing ever since his dad built a home wall in their backyard as a kid. Now he's a full-time gym rat. These days he spends most of his time coaching kids from their very first climb all the way through our competitive team, though he also work with adults up to intermediate levels (V5/5.11). Whether you're a kid who's never touched a hold or someone working through a frustrating plateau, Josh is all about making climbing click for you in a way that's both fun and rewarding. Best for Kids, and Intermediate & below adults.
Kaleb
Kaleb is a certified CWA climbing instructor, who's been climbing for over a decade. He’s been with the Uptown Climbing family since its opening in 2017. He has proficiency in both indoor and outdoor climbing (from the stairs to 11's), whether you're a beginner who just wants to get UP on a top rope or a seasoned vet trying to UP your game on lead he’s here to help. Kaleb is available every day after 6:30PM or anytime on Sunday and Monday. Best for Intermediate & below.
Lee
Lee has been working as a coach, fitness instructor, and personal trainer since gaining his degree in Kinesiology from LSU in 2004. He has dedicated his time to learning techniques from different movement backgrounds, including martial arts, acrobatics, rock climbing, and physical therapy. One of his biggest passions, rock climbing, has culminated in the opening of UpTown Climbing.
He is a Climbing Wall Instructor provider with the Climbing Wall Association. Add Head Route-setter and Head Coach for UpTown to his creds. Good for nearly all abilities.
Lia
Lia is originally from Chicago, Illinois but is currently a student at LSU studying General Business. She’s been climbing since August 2023 and now climbs confidently at the V5 level. Her primary focus is on the bouldering wall, but she’s also comfortable on top rope. Her climbing style emphasizes control and static movement. She’s competed in a few climbing competitions across the south as well as at LSU. Lia is excited to help others improve and is ready to support you as you navigate your climbing journey! Best for Beginner & Intermediate boulder skills, and Beginner ropes skills.
Tyler
Tylerrr went from his first climbing session ever to marrying his climbing partner in less than two years, so you could say he's committed to the sport. Initially primarily a rope climber, Tylerrr now spends his time split evenly between ropes and boulders, enjoying the unique challenges that both disciplines provide. Tylerrr prefers technical climbing on crimps, especially slabs and near-vert climbing, but he has finally come around to building power and developing dynamic movements. His training proficiencies include route reading, climbing technique, the projecting process, efficient resting during climbs, climbing mindset and mental game, and building power as a naturally static climber. Best for Intermediate ropes & below.
